SUSTAINABILITY

STOR has always been committed to the environmental protection, avoiding the manufacturing of “single use plastics”, that’s why all of our products are meant to Reduce or simplify the consumption of direct products, to Reuse things and make them as useful as possible before it is time to dispose it, but also, this time STOR gives a rise to the “3R’s rules” including the “Recycling” in some products of our catalogue, where it is possible to recycle by raw material and reuse them in the future.

Apart from the above, over the last years, we have increased the number of articles made from recyclable materials in our catalogue. The articles shown on the right side have at least a percentage of 80% of recyclable materials.

These materials are mostly metals (stainless steel, aluminium) and glass:

On the other hand, we are also working with compostable raw materials such as polylactic acid or reducing the percentage of plastics up to 30% by replacing it with natural components such as cellulose and wood.

The 90% of our packaging are made of recyclable materials.

We have reduced the “single use plastic” on primary packaging by using paper bags instead of polybags and decreasing the use of blisters except in the toddler products which are needed due to the hygienic reasons.

In spite of that, the blisters are made of RPET with BRC and GRS cerficates. Besides, Stor has increased the use of carboard FSC certified.

As mentioned before, STOR is working hard on sustainability in four different ways:

1. compostable materials,

2. recycled materials,

3. recyclable materials and,

4. reducing the percentage of plasting by adding natural fibers.

At this moment, STOR is operating intensively to improve the path to sustainability, including more materials as good as the Tritan, keeping high strength and durability characteristics but with extra environmental care, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels minimizing the greenhouse emissions of gas.

In this way, the products manufactured with this material will not only be reusable but will also be giving a new life to a material that had already come to an end.

PRODUCTS OF CHANGE

In keeping with STOR’s commitment to the environmental protection and the awareness that we want to have in terms of sustainability in our products, we have decided to become part of the Products of Change’s

project. We have 9 years to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. So, let's act now in a coordinated manner!

Products of Change is a global educational hub aimed at driving sustainable change across consumer product markets and beyond.

Becoming a membership of this organization means that we are able to get supported, encouraged and able to be helped to meeting our sustainability goals through educating and being informed about changes in this path. With education at its heart, Products of Change is a global ‘living library’ of sustainable learnings (written, aural and visual) across a wide spectrum of topics, markets and product areas. It will also host regular webinars, podcasts and e-newsletter that will deliver news, views and research updates on all matters connected to sustainability.

Besides… Product of Change donate 5% of their annual profits to support sustainable education for the next generation

There are other companies that have also relied on Product of Change such as:

CARBON FOOTPRINT

STOR is currently working on the calculation and management of our Carbon Footprint.

In the last years, society is demanding more environmentally responsible products, looking for companies that incorporate these aspects in their manufacturing and transport policies. According to the European Council held in December 2020, climate ambition is increasing more and more, setting targets for 2030, including:

A. A 55% reduction in greenhouse

gas emissions compared to 1990.

B. A 32% reduction of renewable energies

in energy consumption and

C. A 32.5% improvement in energy efficiency.

All this with a view of a 2050 year with low or almost carbon neutral and competitive economy, where the EU should reduce its emissions by 80% below 1990 levels through domestic reductions.

The benefits of calculating and managing an organization’s carbon footprint include, in addition to environmental commitment, that it can bring competitive advantages to companies. These include:

• Product differentiation, brand value.

• Attraction of new customers and investors.

• Cost reduction through responsible sustainable actions.

• Access to new markets.

• Getting ahead of current regulations.

Nowadays, there are several references to quantify, reduce, compensate and verify the Carbon Footprint of a company as a result of the growing interest of organizations in its management, that is why STOR has decided to calculate the Carbon Footprint, reducing its emissions and making a compensation of the possible impact that our company could cause to the planet by planting trees.

STOR’s carbon footprint 2021:

After getting the total amount of CO2 produced by the company, STOR has commited to make a reduction of this impact by the installation of low consumption LED light bulbs in those areas where they have not already been replaced, cleaning and maintenance of the lighting system, avoid setting the heating too high and the air conditioning too low, closing doors and windows when air conditioning systems are on and the major one of all of them which is collaborate in the planting of 100 trees of a sustainable compensatory forest in Madrid.

Please, take a look at the video of the planting day:

FSC®

Nowdays, forest products are everywhere: in the office and at school, in packaging, furniture and homes. However, forests not only provide us with products that improve our lives, they also sustain life itself. Forests are essential climate regulators that support biological diversity and provide essential livelihoods for millions of people.

The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is a global, not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting responsible forest management on a global scale. FSC defines standards based on agreed principles for responsible forest management that are supported by environmental, social and economic stakeholders. The primary mission of the Forest Stewardship Council is, of course, to manage the world's forests, ensuring that management is environmentally sound, socially beneficial and economically viable. This forest management ensures that the way in which timber and non-timber products are harvested contributes to maintaining the productivity, biodiversity and ecological processes of forests.
